Mute Swan
This handsome bird is sometimes aggressive, even for humans. Very common in Europe, it was introduced years ago in North America where it is now considered as an invasive species.
It has a serrated beak, giving the impression that it has teeth of some sort.

Le potier
En plus d'être un photographe d'art professionnel, mon ami James Longster est aussi un potier de première force pour qui les différents types de silice n'ont plus de secrets.
On peut le voir ici dans les toutes premières étapes de travail d'un bloc de silice. J'ai pris toutes les photos de cette série avec un iPhone X. Même si l'appareil photo de ce téléphone a un petit quelque chose de magique, ça demeure un téléphone et ce ne sera jamais l'outil préférence du photographe. Malgré l'extrême sensibilité et le travail en HDR même en luminosité très réduite, malgré le fait qu'il travaille en format P3 et non en sRGB, il s'agit toujours d'un format 8 bits par couleur, ce qui n'est pas suffisant pour un post-traitement de qualité.
Pour une présentation web toutefois, ça peut toujours aller. :)

The Potter
My friend James Longster is an outstanding professional art photographer. He's also a master potter and clay has no secrets for him.
Here he is in the early stages of preparation of a new block of clay. I shot all photos in this series with my iPhone X. Even if this smartphone's camera is perhaps without equal in its category, even if it seems a bit magical, this is still a phone and as such will never be the preferred tool of a pro photographer. Yes, you can work in HDR mode even in very low light conditions. Yes, it's colour space is P3 which is vastly superior to sRGB and almost as good as Adobe RGB. But it works in 8 bits per colour which is not enough for good quality post-processing.
It is acceptable for a web presentation though.

Voilà une autre photo prise lors de cette sortie à la réserve naturelle Celery Bog, Lafayette, Indiana. J'étais en compagnie de James Longster et comme je l'ai mentionné dans le billet précédent, il faisait froid et le temps était inclément.
Pas grave, nous avons tout de même réussi à tirer quelques photos décentes, dont cette paruline. :)

Yellow-Rumped Warbler
This is another photo shot at Celery Bog Nature Area in Lafayette, IN. I was with James Longster and the weather was rather awful, cold and cloudy as I mentioned in a previous post.
This was nevertheless an interesting trip during which we were able to photograph a good number of birds including this warbler. :)
